Wind - Lots of Wind

Currently the wind is blowing at 33 mph and has gusts of 51 mph. We still have power but it has flickered a few times giving my UPS a real workout. It looks like some dry air is feeding in to hurricane Jeanne and it may rotate our way in another hour. Until then we will just wait it out.

We haven’t sustained any damage as far as I know. There is a tornado warning for Flagler County and rotation has been spotted on radar. I know Orlando is getting pounded. Orlando’s wind gusts are still reaching 68 mph which can do a lot of damage.

Power is starting to brown out for a couple of seconds at a time now. I half expect it to go out for good soon so this may be my last post for a while.  As I was posting this a big long oak branch has snapped off and landed in the front yard. I hope that isn’t a trend.

It’s really starting to blow hard now.

Hunkered Down - Riding Out Hurricane Jeanne

Currently North of me winds are blowing steady at 28 mph with gusts of 38 mph. At the Orlando International Airport the wind is steady at 51 mph with gusts of 75 mph.  Jeanne has turned into a very powerful storm. The center of Jeanne is South of me 60 miles. Winds are gusting 80 mph or more near the center. It continues moving West and appears to be turning more West-Northwest as I post this.

I can watch the squalls on radar and it looks like we are going to get higher winds and a lot more rain. Looks like we have 3 to 4 more hours to stay hunkered down.

My trees are still standing and so far we have not sustained damage to our home.
